      <image:title>Home - What is FEES?</image:title>
<image:caption>Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES) is a high quality, comprehensive instrumental dysphagia assessment. Columbia Valley Swallowing Diagnostics uses portable imaging technology that allows objective assessments to be completed wherever is most convenient for the patient. During the procedure, a flexible endoscope is introduced through the floor of the nose, into the throat where the speech language pathologist (SLP) can view the structures. The patient is then given food and liquids to swallow to assess sensory and motor function of the swallow.</image:caption>
